If you're having problems proving your age on public transport - the U16 card takes care of that.

It's FREE and EASY to use

It proves to drivers and inspectors that you are entitled to a child's fare - even if you look older.

You can use this card to get a child fare when you're paying cash or buying the child rate season ticket on the bus, train and Metro.

The 16-18 photocard allows eligible students to buy a child season ticket or child rate cash fares for travelling to and from school or college within the Network West Midlands area.
It costs £10 valid for one academic year

£10 for one academic year

You must be:

  • In full time education - minimum of 12 hours per week
  • Under 18 before the 1September of the current academic year.
  • Not receiving any payment in connection with your studies
  • Living in a West Midlands County property eligible for Council Tax to one of the seven District Councils:
   

Birmingham
Coventry
Dudley
Sandwell
Solihull
Walsall
Wolverhampton

You could be eligible for a student ticket if you don't meet these conditions.

Application forms are available from your school or college - ask your teacher for details.

Send your application form to Centro by post. It must be stamped by your school or college to confirm the above conditions.

During September you can buy and use child term tickets only without a photocard while you wait for your 16-18 Photocard. You must have your Photocard with your ticket by 1 October for it to remain valid.

Child tickets valid for less than a term or child rate cash fares can only be bought once you receive your 16-18 Photocard.

The Photocard cannot be used to purchase child rate day tickets or cash fares outside of school or college times.

It is not valid outside of the Network West Midlands area except if used with a rail add-on to a n iconnetwork season ticket.

Please make sure you are entitled to the 16-18 Photocard before buying a child ticket. Refunds can't be given if you find out later you're not eligible.
