Be TravelWise and help save the planet…………
TravelWise is a campaign to encourage people to think about how they travel – to make less car journeys and think about other ways to get around.
Whether you are travelling to college, university or just on a night out, there are lots of ways you can make a difference to your health, your pocket and the environment.
Here are just some of the choices……….
Bus it……..
Public transport helps to cut down on traffic congestion and is better for the planet – it’s also loads cheaper than driving. Walking to and from the bus stop or train station increases your physical activity and therefore increases your fitness and makes you healthier.
Share it…….
If some of your mates travel by car why not share the journey and the cost of petrol and parking – that way you all save money and the environment.
Walk it……..
If you live within a mile of college or university why not get your trainers on and walk there? Exercising at the start of the day will wake you up and give you more energy - walking home will help you to wind down and relax. Walking can also help control your weight, improve health and fitness levels plus it’s totally free and the most environmentally friendly way to travel!
Bike it…….
If you cycle for just 15 minutes a day you can burn 11 pounds of body fat in a year! Cycling is cheap, great for your health and you will sail through the traffic jams, you’ll get a lie-in in the morning and get home faster than everyone else at the end of the day!
Remember - a small change makes a BIG difference
