The Severn Valley Railway is a full-size standard-gauge railway line running regular steam-hauled passenger trains for the benefit of visitors and enthusiasts alike between Kidderminster in Worcestershire and Bridgnorth in Shropshire, a distance of 16 miles. There are many points of interest along the route as it follows the meandering course of the River Severn for much of the journey.

Did you know that you can find one of the most impressive historic houses in the West Midlands only a couple of miles from Birmingham city centre? Aston Hall is a 400 year old Grade I listed building set in 52 acres of historic parkland. It still stands proudly next to Aston Villa FC despite many wars and weathering. Aston Hall will be re-opening in July 2009 following a two year, £10million refurbishment.

This historic area of Birmingham has some of the coolest bars and galleries in the city. Dating back over 250 years it is still home to 400 jewellery businesses and over 200 listed buildings. The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter is well worth a visit, and was recently voted the third best visitor attraction in Europe by TripAdvisor, after Rome's Pantheon and the National Gallery in London.
The area has public art and building trails along with historic cemetery and ghostly catacombs. You can browse through over 100 specialist retailers for classic pieces and beautiful handcrafted jewellery for some fantastic presents or commission your own.

Situated 2 miles south of the city centre, Birmingham Nature Centre is home to over 130 species of animals from around the world including meerkats, lemurs, owls, snakes and lizards, all kept in surroundings as close to their natural habitats as possible.
