Leisure journeys are easy to plan in a sustainable way, when you are popping to your local shop why not leave the car at home and walk or cycle there instead. If you have a lot of shopping to carry some supermarkets offer a free delivery service so you won't need to carry your goods home. Don't forget - the cost of petrol added onto the price of your shopping just makes it even more expensive.

You can save valuable time by doing your weekly shopping on the internet, all major supermarkets offer this service for a small charge and that way you will have more time to spend at the weekend doing things you really want to do.

Use home delivery services where you can for larger items and see if your employer will also be sustainable and let you work from home while you wait for your delivery - approach them to write their own travel plan and sign up to TravelWise to do their bit. The gridlock around football clubs on match days can be nightmare so, If you're off to the match with family or friends, take a look at the transport pages of your clubs' website before you travel and see how easy it is to get to them without your car.
